I wake up with pain in my left jaw.
I can’t fit 3 fingers properly in my mouth. My range of motion is limited.

I’m suffering from jaw pain, popping an clicking. Especially when chewing.

It also affects my face shape making me look more round and bloated.

I have an appointment with my ortho to “fix” it.

I stumbled upon this and many people in the comment section said it helped and worked. Going to give this a try.

Anyone here suffering here from TMJ? If so, how do you cope and/or fixed it?

Massage your masseters very hard with your knuckle-specially in those trigger points, then you stretch out those muscles by opening your mouth gigawide. Finally, you apply highly cold ice to the muscles to let them cool down. Use a mouthguard to sleep. Try magnesium before sleep too. Relax yourself before sleeping. Try to check for any difficulties in your breathing like a deviated septum, enlarged turbinates or sleep apnea.

It’s not from chewing.

I clench at nighttime. I also have a malocclusion which contributes to it.

What position to sleep are you using? I read somewhere that side sleeping places pressure on your jaw so it's better to avoid it, and sleep on your back.

Yeah I sleep on my side. But i started using cpap (sleeping on my back) lately and still have it.

I need to fix my type II malocclusion otherwise i’ll suffer for the rest of my life.

Hmmm, have you tried sleeping inclined?

You mean with 2 pillows? If so, yes.
Weird. I highly suspect mewing could be blamed in some cases. I have no more ideas dude, the only thing to try now is relaxing your nervous system as much as possible before sleeping.

You are welcome brah. It seems your sleep apnea is what triggers your TMJ, so focus on fixing that shit asap. Regarding exercises, well yeah, i think anything helps. I just do a different version of those, like I told you above, I use my knuckles and I massage the muscle fibers from top to bottom and I also focus on my trigger points applying static pressure on them. If you stretch afterwards and apply ice, the swelling progressively decreases. I also massage my temporal muscles the same way since they are also involved in the chewing mechanism.
