Today I learned that when people call you “bud/buddy”, it’s to purposely establish dominance & emasculate and ridicule you.

Should you say “pal” in exchange?

Yep, i learned this whilst in Uni many years ago. The correct response is to say "pal" or something else in a sarcastic humorous voice. Although 60+ year old boomers saying it shouldn't really be an issue but if someone your age or 10-15 years older says it, you respond back. My teacher who was in his 40s used to always call me bud/pal and even back then i knew something was off the way he said it, very obviously in a demeaning manner but i just ignored it and it's only when you get older you realize the subtle things that normalfags do to try and put you down.

You should laugh it off like a cuck
Then later get them alone and beat them senseless with a baseball bat

Lol why do people resort to this shit though? Isn’t it embarrassing? Needing to say something so vague and obsecure in your dialogue to show that you’re a bigger man?

I feel like it’s very hypocritical because this is what women do. Women speak in backhanded and convoluted ways in order to accomplish social manipulation.

That's how people are, that's how the real world works. Everyone is doing these snarky little passive-aggressive comments trying to one up everyone else. It's pathetic and just makes it worse when men do these womanly things.

Always get called buddy by super tall, fat and ugly guys for some reason. Annoys me a lot too.

In hindsight, I’ve gotten called buddy by either short or average men & im fairly tall. Tall men tend to be more reserved imo—they don’t have anything to prove to people
