Does anyone know if Tretinoin is any good? My dermatologist gave me it today and im supposed to apply it 3 days a week, Obviously since my dermatologist gave it to me it must help but social media is making me nervous about it since people's acne actually worsened sooo can anyone tell me more abt it or if i should even use it

initial breakouts are expected with all retinoids, also stronger forms of tretinoin can be too harsh for some leading to worse conditions. If your worried start at 0.025 tret and go up gradually. Imo isotretinoin > but tretinoin is fine specially for mild-moderate acne.

you can minimise breakouts by applying every 3rd day for the first week, every second day for the second week and then daily from the third week on. worked for me. im currently in my second week of using it and my acnes gone by about 30% (no breakouts btw)

How is it going
I was about to make a thread of it I literally dont see any improvements or downgrades I feel like my skin is literally the same, Maybe it broke out just a little but thats because I did pick it which I am not proud of.
although it has been about a week ill just share my nightly and day routine if you guys can point out any flaws ( ts is the routine my dermatologist gave me I barely practiced skincare before I went to a doctor )

AM:
Wash with salicylic acid (I might be doing this part wrong)
Moisturizer with SPF

PM:

Wash with a Gentle cleanser
Tretinoin (whichever nights it applies in)
Moisturizer

If you dont see any results like better skin in a month or so u might need to go up on the tret % or frequency u apply it

if you apply it ed as soon as you get it you just break your skin barrier.

maybe wait like a week and use minimal product e.g., water and moisteriser. then apply it properly like i said above. when you use tret you have to cleanse daily and moisterise a lot aswell. sunscreen is good too .
