... an expensive one doesn't fucking work.
I tried it yesterday and the meat came out so tough you could barely chew it.
This is what he recommended:
1) Buy a cheap slab of red meat, such as 'bottom round'
2) Cut it into thick slices
3) Tenderize it by poking holes into it with a meat mallet
4) Rub lots of coarse salt on it (he claimed this won't make the steak too salty-- YES, IT FUCKING DOES!)
5) Cover it in plastic wrap and refrigerate it for 24 hours
6) Cook like a normal steak
He claimed that by using this method, a bottom round steak (which costs $6.99/lb) can be just as tender and tasty as a ribeye (which costs $21.99/lb).
No, it fucking can't. If it could, it wouldn't be so cheap!
