Imagine going through med school hell in the UK (extremely hard to get into a good med school) and ending up seeing this

How is anyone with a degree in America not rich? The salaries all seem eye watering?

Although maybe there’s an element of larping because whenever I Google the averages the differences aren’t as drastic as what I always hear anecdotally reported

Average grad salary of US graduates is $50k compared to the Uk which is I think £21k or something. It’s much higher because education is more expensive in general and the US receives exponentially more business than the Uk so there are higher pay outs

Product manager is a senior position in software development

Doctors have specializations which bump their pay up, also high COL areas they will charge more.

But yes your buying power is going down rapidly ukcels/eurocels

How is that doctor earning 400k with 6 years experience? Can’t be specialization

I’m pretty sure the average grad salary is not as low £21k

It’s more like £20-25k outside of london

£25-30k in london

That stat is probably outdated- remember there’s been crazy inflation last year or so

£24,291

Key graduate salary statistics 2022
The average graduate salary in the UK in 2022 is £24,291. Medicine & dentistry degrees offer the highest average starting salaries at £35,000. London graduates earn the most across all UK regions with an average salary of £28,634, whilst grads in Wales earn the least at £22,420.

^ that’s more realistic

That’s way more than I thought damn. But pound is crashing hard I’m pretty sure. I think people should start their career in the UK then move to the US later on if they can since education is relatively cheaper

My cousin is a cardiologist, she and her husband both earn around 500k including bonus and benefits. I think they are both surgeons but unsure

There’s nothing UKcels can do about this though, as the reason why the US salaries are so high is because immigration for skilled labour is heavily restricted

If UKcels are in medicine they have the option to go to Canada or Australia I’ve heard tons of them do this for the pay raise

Also I think I’m the vid where the guys says they have 6 years experience they mean 6 in that role not in total since uni. They look way older than the guy in the tiktok so I doubt they’re 6 years out of uni- they look middle aged

dollar hegemony as well. no other country in the world can pay those salaries. Japan arguably has an even stricter immigration policy and doesn't pay their workers nearly as much as the US.

True, I didn’t think about Japan like that before. USA gdp is 50% higher than Japan’s but salaries are more than 50% higher. I guess a big reason for the high salaries is still the strict immigration, but also certain industries in America are disproportionately big. For example healthcare is a huge scam over there and there’s so much money involved, that’s why doctors are paid so much. The other high paying jobs are in tech, because all the biggest tech companies are based in the USA and there is a shortage of skilled programmers, so salaries are very high. Salaries for most other careers are nowhere near as high as these. So yeah it’s a combination of factors, but I think strict immigration is a key one

What about tech?
Tech is mainly big in the US. Moving to tech from Europe to the US is possible but not easy as they mainly recruit from local American colleges and the top canadian ones (Waterloo, UofT). Then there is visa sponsorship as well which many companies might not do

if you're well educated. They still need their slave class for the economcy to function. That's why some have to take up 3 jobs to get by and highly educated people make 5x of what their EU counterparts are making.

I think the only way for non-medicine fields is to study there at university which charges like £50k per year for international students

Mi mom's a travelling nurse and makes nearly 2k a week and barely did a year of college lol

meanwhile the same job in her home country could barely get her an apartment

Medical and IT jobs are the best for wage maxing in America

You get paid more in US, but it’s all relative. Lower standard of living generally, little to no social safety net, no pensions or retirement benefits, far less vacation time, more violent crime, harsher and more punitive criminal justice system, less culture and history. I’m an American and I can say this thread is a classic case of wanting what you can’t have. Many Americans envy Eurocels for the above mentioned reason. The UK is a shithole tho. I would rather live in US than UK, but I would pick EU over US any day.
