unaesthetic changes to the philtrum as a result of inclining incisors in palate expansion?

he did a 6mm palate expansion during this they also outwards inclined the incisors (flaring) to make more sagittal room for the tongue. Personally, I think it looks strange and unaesthetic.

It looks like they transformed his philtrum area into more like the unaesthetic asian one. I'm trying to udnerstand why. What caused this change? Why does it look bad? And how can it be avoided. I also wonder if it looking bad may be case by case?

Here is my philtrum/lips. I was planning to expand with this provider, but want to get opinions. Do you think it would fuck up my philtrum? Or improve it?

I see where they get the idea for this. but the question is if they are truly achieving this correctly.

Why would you want to do it? It doesn't even bring the chin forward, why risk unaesthetic gook protrusion in exchange of nothing but a wider mouth

His protrusion turned out good because he had very flat mouth area near to ideal and had very sharp lip corners because of that, but if you lack sharpness in your lips, It would 100% turn out shitty and unaesthetic

idk to me it seems like the reason it looks bad is that your moving the mouth forward but not any of the other featrures of the face, and as a result you predictably get this weird prognathic look. I wonder what could be done either differently to still gain benifits of greater sagittal space, or to correct the damage done.

No not that much in the after, but it looks like his mouth came outwards as a whole, idk why you used his example, the spanish guy's lips were effected more, look at his lip corners and fullness

Not in the first guy with the curly hair. In the second guy the nasolabial angle got too acute

I think it's because his maxilla isn't protruding forward just his teeth, so it doesn't look like normal lip protrusion

Researching it further, thats indeed why all these orthotropic cases look "strange". This thread talks about it.

Question: Can an acute nasolabial angle be corrected?
