Do you know the story about Achilles being held by the heel while being submerged in the river Styx to make him invulnerable? His whole body invulnerable except for the heel he was being held on by.

I think this is caused by something similar
Being touched by a supernatural entity on the face on that place, will cause your face to look like that.

Kinda like how the baby was touched by the whitewalker in game of thrones type shit

you see hee was touched only on one side of the face, but probably looks mogger now regardless.
