I'm not black and there isn't a big black community in my country, but here's my opinion anyway.

A hairstyle like that seems somehow low class and teenager-like to me. I think, especially if you're not white, you should try to appear more high class. If you want long hair, make a bun, but that seems really childish to me and just not established. Look at black guys like Austin Dunham and stuff and try to copy their "vibe".
