It's honestly such a stupid idea, "muh just drink alcohol for confidence" or any other drug. Just ruin your health and life to unknowingly jestermaxx at unsuspecting women at bars and parties theory.

There is absolutely no difference between cold approaching someone sober at a party/bar and approaching them drunk/high, they don't perceive you any different. Not being fully aware of your actions and therefore thinking less of doing something you're usually too nervous or shy to do isn't going to add 300mm of bone to your face from the woman's perspective. Better to be healthy, shy, but aware, than unhealthy, high, and unaware of anything you could do.

People do it to not have approach anxiety. Getting steaming drunk isn't advisable. What most people mean by drinks is one or two drinks worth. You're not drunk, not really tipsy, but you have some of the alcohol effect without it hindering you. Still, it is best to develop confidence and social skills to approach sober. It's way more intimidating to talk to random people sober.
