It's certainly very brutal but likely not the most brutal life can get. How bad life is for an individual is, is measured by how much overall pain (emotional and physical) he's experiencing over time. If this guy is suicidally depressed in addition to this, then I would say it's the top brutality of life, but if he's in a somewhat normal emotional state, it's not.
