Other, than the arstyle their no different than television, books or movies. They are interesting and entertaining stories with interesting and entertaining characters.

I cant take most anime seriously though. Way too many cliches. Way too many garbage and generic character designs, alot of characters almost look like palette swaps. Just an utter lack of creativity. Than you have these super powered teenagers and middle schoolers who train 24/7 but have the physiques of stick figures and are physically beating the shit out of jacked grown men. Cant take that type of stuff seriously.

full metal alchemist is better than death note. Death note starts really good but ends up as "I watch this anime and feel identified with main character look how edgy I am I am dark inside" (kira). and I hate that anime archetype. Also it ends up being a boring drag unlike FMA.
