we tend to confuse what we find cool with what we find attractive

for example, guys will say something like oh i like a goth girl with goth makeup and dyed hair

no, you’re not attracted to it, you find it cool

it’s very unlikely to actually be attracted to a goth girl unless she has a massive body halo or a certain personality type in which you find appealing

another example, piercings

no one is attracted to a girl because she has piercings, maybe you find it cool and you’d prefer a girl with piercings but not necessarily due to attractiveness

i’m saying this because of how people will say something like oh people with piercings are so attractive

it’s impossible. if you find someone attractive and they happen to have piercings yeah, but you’ll never find someone attractive FOR their piercings or style

ofc style is a halo in dating and can boost the way people perceive you but what they really are attracted to is your face and frame
