+ The points about islam esp. I have pages of research about islam. To put it simply, (As a whole religion) Its a derivative of the beliefs from ancient texts. They are long since far from the original. Its an extremely complicated subject though, with the best course of action to separate yourself from the totality of that religion and go on a personal journey, sourcing the texts and fitting in the gaps from that clean slate.

Also to OP, theres no "we" when it comes to being wrong about china. It has always been the dystopian shithole for as far as i knew. And i didnt even have to look that far to find out.

If what he meant from being "uninvolved" from Islamic beliefs was liberalism then fuck no that's dumb.

One of the only few things good with Islam is how they treat their woman, and the social norms between man and woman. Its hypocritical at the current state + all of the extra ordinances, but with a little bit of tweaking it can be made really nicely. But thats what i was referring to. Its like fragments of good things from a lot of religions that if put together, could be a really good thing. But this would only apply to someone whos willing to hold on to the beliefs and build from it. Like if the mentality of Christians could be replaced with Islamic/Judistic ones, but the books and artifacts from the original authors of the bible (Torah+) from Christianity remain. Shit, maybe even carefully adding little bit of knowledge of the spirit from other monk stuff.

Though, If it were one religion i would make a modern western woman grow up in it would have been Islam or Judaism. Its a little rough around the edges for sure, but it does well to inflict an early sense of moderation and chastity. A lot of women are not as introspective to improve their faith which is why i would opt for something a little bit more extreme for woman like this religion. As that will leave them to make fewer, not so bad mistakes (knowing the women will fuck up and not care overtime), than if you were to raise someone with a belief more liberal that will leave them with a mentality of "i can make no mistakes". Which means frequent fuck ups from the start that just grow worst and worst .

Another thing to note is when all the encroaching liberations and feministic influences from popularized media reached the modern religious womans ears. It was like giving candy to a baby. It has the opposite effect of tempting the mind to an even greater sense of promiscuity, like caging an animal in a box only to then release them in a field with excess of its favorite foods. Maybe the effects don't happen within one generation, but overtime the moms will perhaps be more so motivated teach their young ones to take advantage of the feministic ideals which creates a generation of real harlots. As the older mothers were not able to fully experience it.
