1997 berserk, then read manga, ignore the 2016-2017 adaptations entirely, they are some of the worst shit to face the planet, you can watch the movies if you want but they arent good either, but not atrocious like 2016-2017 adap

art in the manga is very nice if you care about that

99% of anime and manga is utter garbage with the most unrealistic cringey interactions and fetish based shit... oh god, and screaming, lots of screaming. Berserk has the screaming too but its atleast bearable

Also watch the english dub, im serious, everyone prefers the dub even though its not "good", but the Japanese version gave guts a high pitch angry asian voice and everyone has just come to identify the characters by the dub voices
