I'm already using minoxidil. I stopped using finasteride after my specialist told me to stop using finasteride when she prescribed me minoxidil.

I think I might need a potent DHT blocker like finasteride or dutasteride again, because the minoxidil is just a vasodilator.

I already smoke cigarettes and I think that may be increasing the production of DHT.

Here are the options I could think of -

1. Cut my hair short and keep it that way (unaesthetic, I know) because trimming hair potentially increases the thickening and growth of hair on the scalp.
2. A potent DHT blocker (the best option for my case imo).
3. Rosemary Oil on the scalp.

What other medication can you suggest to prevent hair-loss?

You should hop on a 5ARI, either Fin or Dut. No other way around this unfortunately.

Read the thread my boy @chadisbeingmade made on that topic, it's in BOTB.

imagine listening to women
these docs.....
I think she really did give me misinformation when she said that the minoxidil alone will ensure my hair will stay on my scalp. I'm starting to think quitting finasteride was a bad idea.

I know Dutasteride is better but how bad really are the risks of using dutasteride? I can deal with synthetic depression but I don't want cancer.

You won't get cancer, the risks are overrated especially after puberty.

Dutasteride will even give you some regrowth if you already lost some ground.

Alright, I'm gonna book an appointment with my physician and get that dutasteride prescription within the coming weeks. There probably will be increased hair shedding for a few weeks after I start taking dutasteride, but it shouldn't be an issue.

Thanks for your advice.

The last thing I want to do is fly all the way to Turkey and have some dodgy hair transplant procedure performed on my head.

It would cost a lot.
And I don't want to be known as that guy who spent a lot of money to fly abroad and get a hair transplant in my irl social circle.

You're going to need a DHT blocker if the cause is AGA.

Transplants are a bad idea if under 25 as your hair loss pattern is still emergent.
This means you could be transplanting hair follices that will later minaturize.

how common is the hair in donor area miniaturizing tho? afaik its not that common of a pattern is it

That's just one aspect of it.
The other issue is that your donor area is finite so patching the temples is a bad idea if you're going to experience more loss in the future.

By around 25, your pattern is pretty much established so a transplant surgeon can advise you properly.
