im a graycel but i'm currently studying cs at a pretty reputable uni

cybersecurity should be in demand so if you want to do it go for it

it's just that everyone thinks that comp sci is fucking software engineering since there are a lot of different avenues you can go into. one can pursue a phd and pursue further education in research or even go into fintech and finance

what i'm doing is data science because 1) i like statistics and 2) it provides valuable skills in languages like python

basically specializing in a niche that isn't oversaturated and provides valuable skills for the future will give you more guaranteed success. by oversaturated, i mean stuff like ui/ux design and web dev because employers can easily outsource these for cheap and even a kid can do these imo. instead, focusing on something like backend (so how the system works behind the scenes) will be more useful since it's harder to learn.

economic comp sci seems good if you want you can do a minor or double major

I do economics. Honestly as a course I think it's semi worth it, so long as you pair it with something useful.

Anything in STEM is usually worth it except for some of the science degrees.

What makes you think CS jobs will get replaced by ai but not finance?

Go for a degree in Computer Science and do a minor in cybersecurity or take some certifications like Security+. There’s no real entry level cybersecurity jobs, first you would need to get experience in IT and then transition to a cybersecurity job. Employers really don’t care about your Bachelor they care more about your portfolio, experience and certifications, but a 4 year degree will get your resume reviewed by a real person instead of a shredder
