no, having no upvoting or downvoting system is better because people will actually say what they think instead of trying to farm karma/rep

Reddit is broken. In the popular Subforums, Artificial Intelligence Bots control which threads get put to the top by upvoting and downvoting as soon as threads are made.

And then on the management side:
Mods delete anything offensive (including entire subforums with millions of people in them) and ban accounts the same way.

4chan is good, but the political subforums are chaotic battlegrounds of all kinds of people.

I prefer independent blog spots with comments, small websites, dedicated forums etc. basically the old internet before Google search started censoring and aggressively moving websites behind pages or removing them from the search results in favour of whoever brings in the most revenue profits.

Reddit has replaced a large part of the old internet.
