Even what was before being born is an experience; sure, there was no brain to record that experience so that you have a recollection of it but recollection of an experience is not a requirement for an experience to be valid. What was before the Big Bang, if it even happened, was just as much of an experience as what happened after the Big Bang. Experience is not limited to time and space only. Consciousness seeks experience - all sorts of experience. That’s why there is good and evil. That’s why some people are born disabled and others are born healthy and wealthy. Consciousness wants to experience it all regardless of whether it’s a desirable or undesirable experience if that makes sense.

that's why i think consciousness is just an emergent property of a complex enough brain. if it had some supernatural element to it, you wouldn't be able to alter it that much with random chemicals. but the basic level of stupidity is to assume your omnipotence, so it makes sense we're basically worshiping ourselves for traits that will later turn out to be as rudimentary as plants growing under sunlight
