A while ago I had sort of an epiphany. I’d kinda just been existing/ planning on ropemaxxing for a variety of reasons that I may or not divulge in a later post. I’d found a reason to not or atleast delay my ropemaxxing for a time for once again a few reasons, one I won’t mention but also in Europe at least I believe it’s much harder to ensure a successful ropemaxx without the potential of ending up a vegetable or something worse than your life beforehand. Anyways before I continue my tangent I’ll continue with the epiphany of sorts. I don’t know what made me realise this but I believe that we don’t exactly have free will. I mean the decisions we make are technically our own but in reality are entirely decided by our genetics and environment. Environment in the sense that I’ve used it means essentially everything, past and present. While the genetics part may seem rather obvious and I’m sure many people on this forum are also believers in genetic determinism. Genetics however pertains to more than just our looks obviously, as diseases such as autism and schizophrenia are entirely genetic and schizophrenia may be ‘awakened’ due to environmental factors this can only occur if the genes are present. Expanding on the environment part, essentially everything that you’ve experienced or perhaps not experienced decides what you do, not you. Algorithms decide half of the media that we consume nowadays and can anyone on here truthfully say that they don’t make decisions about certain things based on something they saw on social media, consciously or not. It’s more than that however, as subconsciously really, we make all our decisions based on our past experiences. Other people make decisions that affect us based on those same experiences aswell. As such any decision you have made or will make, you were always going to make, a sort of fate if you will. Not the suffering has a reason or some bs kind of fate but simply what happens or will happen was always going to happen, and your choices are made for you in a sense. For example if one of you read this and then decided to live more carefree or something, that was only as a result of reading this and your genetics and past experiences. Now in our mind we justify why we’ve made decisions, even though we arent fully aware of why we’ve truly made them. Realising this has made it much easier for me to try to understand why people do what they do, even if I am unaware of the reason. it also doesn’t excuse people’s actions as I still believe that pedophiles should be put to death and such and such.
If you’ve made it to the end sorry for such a convoluted post I am not the best at conveying my thoughts clearly.
Any thoughts on this would be much appreciated and I’m sure I have also missed some points that I meant to bring up. anyways yeah thanks for reading.
