FOR ME:

mtn- guy could have a girlfriend / be a crush of a girl or two. Doesnt stand out, you wouldnt call him ugly nor handsome
htn- probably top 3 best looking in class, you'd assume he has girls

It's basically how much you need to compensate in other categories to make up for your facial attractiveness
A cl only needs to have a barely decent personality to pull while a ltn would have to go through all sorts of hoops to even get a date
