I’m not writing this to ramble like a nihilistic schizo, but for a while I’ve really struggled with understanding why normies rely on goals/future aspirations for a sense of identity.
Hearing about all these guys committed to “becoming the best version of themselves” genuinely confuses me, do they not realise that all they will feel is a temporary high once they finally fulfil those goals/ambitions?
And the thing is, if you question the status quo in this way then there’s somehow something wrong with you.
What is the purpose of living to attain empty hits of validation that basically mean nothing in the grand scheme of life, no one will remember, and once you’re dead even if they do remember, it won’t matter anyway.
Do other people not see this? It’s like I can’t find a single person my age IRL who can relate to this deep feeling. Everyone thinks that one day in the future they’ll magically be happy somehow
