There's a shortage of teachers here but I think English is pretty oversaturated. At my university, I had a pedagogy class with students from other majors in Education. History and social studies were the least common, and English was the most common. Math and other science subjects? Even less common. To the point where you can be a second-year student and get offered a full-time job. That's not the case for those studying to become an English teacher. You can apply for a full-time job as a fourth-year student though, but that's two years later compared to those studying to become math teachers. That goes to show that the real shortage lies in science teachers and not language teachers.
