if maths was discovered this presupposes that it existed before being discovered. is it possible for a mode of thinking or way of thought to exist without comprehension of what that way of thought is and its application in relation to something? there lies the distinction between a lack knowledge of a mode of thought and the lack of knowledge of, for example, the placement of an object in a particular area of space. the lack of knowledge of a way of thought renders the incidental inability to apply rules in relation to the object while the lack of knowledge of the object, merely lacks existing capacity to apply the mode of thought or laws of nature in relation to the object.

You could perhaps argue that the thought or discovery existed by way of potential and untapped application of those unknown rules.This would mean that every understanding of anything retrospectively existed before being discovered. This is a poor argument because in the end, paradoxically its fruition or existence is only realized on the knowledge of understanding of that something. Creation of a way of thought or rules is in turn a more accurate description of a conception of rules or way of thought.
