Personally I've always been a cat / dog person, but i've now come to realise they are a massive anchor if you plan on travelling etc...
I had an American Staffordshire up until not long ago, loved him to bits, but he's recently had to be put down.
During my ownership, it made me realise that during your teens & 20s pet ownership will seriously hold you back from a lot of experiences if you don't have people around you to look after them when needed.
This however doesn't go for all pets.
I've gotten into spiders over the last year, they're a great pet. Low maintenance, exotic, interesting (just don't tell hoes you keep spiders, huge looksmin unless you are high tier normie or above).
Currently own a pigmy tarantula, redback spider (australian black widow) & 2 huntsman spiders.
