you might not need braces since a palate expander gap will get fixed natrually but if your teeth get messed up after you will need it

I have the same
I think my lower jaw didnt expand enough to meet my upper jaw's growth
Considering BSSO
However both of us dont have an overjet, which is when the front teeth are horizontally jutting out forward past the lower jaw.

I think we have moreso overbite/deep bite, which is when the upper teeth cover the lower teeth vertically. Not sure if BSSO will help that, because its just gonna slide the lower jaw forward, not vertically that much.

So some type of treatment that restores volume through the vertical dimension is needed.

Straight teeth give a neater and more confident appearance.
