What should i do with my shit 1b hair

Im currently growing my hair out for a mod cut for about 3 months, no maintenance cut yet and I would say its in the awkward stage. Im thinking about just cutting it off though bc my hair is probably 1b and it looks so bad when I step outside, even the slightest winds make it shit. My fringe just goes into my eyes and it pmo, I wear a welding mask most days too which doesnt help jfl. Should I just cut it off, or keep growing it, maybe get a maintenance cut or Layering (ive never had layering) and just hope for the best.
1 more thing i rarely put product in only if im going somewhere nice and i wash it once every 5 days.

I would much rather that the way my hair looks, it just doesnt stay in place especially since im growing it out, the fringe is cooked too. Will layering help this as ive never had it done.

if you can ye, but i would just stick with the clay but if you want more texture you can use sea salt spray too, and the brand idk i don't use any clays or pomades since im a curlcel
