No, he looks way better in the after, and his nose looks smaller because his jaw is now bigger.
He had an underbite. To fix that, surgeons have to move both the upper and the lower jaw, so in the end, you end up with more forward growth, even though you already had more forward growth than average. This is exactly what happened to me, except that my surgeon also fixed my chin, because I used to have a weak chin in the past.

Looks good but basically his maxilla was so recessed that by bringing his lower maxilla forward the upper seems even more recessed . Overall he looks much betterView attachment 1384808
