Let's say that researchers would find a quick, cheap and effective way of increasing the height by enlarging the length and size of bones, muscles and organs in the human body to basically unlimited dimensions. All the short guys, will probably jump to this opportunity and will quickly be transformed into tall, muscular guys at least 6'2". The people who were tall before, will also most likely enlarge themselves so they wouldn't lose their advantage. It's highly likely that women will also want to grow taller, I know many short girls who wished they would be much taller so they could dominate others.
Where do you think this race for height will lead to? Is there an upper limit, where people will decide: "OK, there's no point going over this!", or everyone will keep increasing their size to outdo others?
