See Pneumo's teeth whitening guide. I'd recommend using a lesser percentage of carbamide or hydrogen peroxide than him. Too low a percentage and you reach cope territory.

If you are in the UK whitestrips are cope due to material restrictions leading to different versions of the same product. Typical whitestrips use a low percentage of hydrogen peroxide and this is how they work. Most amazon off-brand whitestrips are cope. Gargling with hydrogen peroxide is also cope, it's too low of a percentage and too little time in contact with your teeth.

A tip if you go the on-brand expensive whitestrip route: cut the strips in half to double the amount you have. If you have an overbite you can even use them exclusively on your upper teeth and 4x the amount.
