My take on it is it's only really logical to judge someone's credibility in their profession based on looks if it's a choice they made to look like that. For example if you go to see a fashion consultant and they're dressed like shit it might make sense to judge their credibility, or a make up artist who's own make up has them looking like a drag queen..

Discounting a rhino surgeon with 20 years experience because he has a big nose is pretty silly. Most likely he's never got a rhino himself because he's not an autistic incel and is quite happy with his wife and kids at home. Just look at their before and afters and see if they're good at what they do.

You ever seen how ridiculous an artist's self portrait looks? Often times they make the other person far better than they do themselves.

Same applies to surgery, they are happy in the profession they chose.. they like fixing other people but don't care to do it on themselves, maybe they trust only themselves and think another surgeon would screw it up, they pride themselves in being the best but can't do the work to themselves.

I see some of them everyday, they're all over the place, yet their job is to know what health is, not to practice it on themselves.

Same for plastic surgeons; I don't think a 40-something, highly-paid male surgeon, wife, three kids at home,

is going to be bothered to change anything about their bones, for purely aesthetic reasons, even whey they have all the knowledge about it.

Such a surgeon doesn't have time for that anyways, at least you know his focus is put on his work on his patients, i.e. you, or he's too busy on research on the side, they work I same hours for some.

Think about it: when you're so passionate about a subject that you're immersed in it, and working in it, do you have time/desire to think about yourself? No, you're too focused.

If anything, he's not as selfish and self-centered as a too good-looking surgeon.

I'd even be wary of a (too) good-looking male plastic surgeon tbh,

for example, is he trying to compensate a relative lack of experience,etc,... by making sure he looks the best as he can, in order to get clients, and inspire trust?

Results from their work, and reputation of a surgeon should speak for themselves.

Besides, they can decide to make you not as good-looking as they could possibly do, for ego reasons (Believe me, I've seen some of them, biggest egos I've ever seen in the field), they hold that power.
