What's the logic behind 271k Jews dying during the Holocaust?

According to the theory 271k Jews can be the max amount of Jews dying but why believe that it's as many as could've died when it's likely way less. And Hitler likely didn't have an batches of Jews ready for each gas.
Ik it's a Low effort thread I'm also very unknowledgeable on this topic so just explain it if you have a reasonable explanation to why it's 271k Jews dying and not likely less
