Dunno, but there is anecdotal and objective proof for this. Not always, but the vast majority.

My hypothesis is that during high school the older guys are better developed so they prefer them and then that sticks into adulthood, but they lose their pair bonding ability to love and just go for money and status afterwards, with looks being a bonus.
