when you study something for multiple hours straight, and you keep going, is it counterproductive?

like assuming you study for around 3 hours straight and you know all the material or have a clear idea of it but you dont know word for word. is it a bad idea to keep studying it since it will just make you burn out?

I usually have this issue with anything thats non Math related, like when I have to remember terms/definitions.
