Leave the city I guess. Kind of a no brainer. Then again, if the hoodlums accept you, it may be a chance to thugmax and ascend. Or.. die.

I'd go abroad. South America or Asia. That's the best way to broaden your economic outlook/perspective. One thing I've noticed after traveling for so many years is that international people never seem to worry about money. It doesn't matter where they're from, where they're going, or how much money they might have at the moment. They tend to know how to take care of themselves.

You can always teach English. You might not make much money, but you'll rub elbows with a lot of other expats that do. Their business savy and intuition will rub off on you for sure. It's the best education a young man can have, in my opinion.

He can. It'll be a harder, but only very very slightly. I know loads of American blacks and Africans carving out a damn good life for themselves all over Asia. As a native English speaker it will be easier for him to get a high paying tob teaching abroad than it would be to get a job at Mcdonnalds in the States, even without a degree.
