I think it depends on race. It looks sickly if you're white, imo.

(these are best case, likely tons of make up since not having a tan reveals blemishes and flaws.)
If you're EA, SA or MENA with that yellowish tone then I'd avoid tanning. It'll look better than being brown.

depends on your skin, if you're pale yes. some people need only a couple of days of sun exposure and are set for entire year
