The Dutch system is like this.. you get a loan, but you don't have to pay it back unless you finish your studies, in which case it will be considered a gift and you don't have to pay back. And since I'm a college dropout, I have to pay back everything. I am nearly 100K euros in debt.

This isn't personal contentment, but I'm defining loser in terms of objective, societal outcomes not just how someone feels about themselves. You can feel happy, but if your existence has no tangible impact, leaves nothing behind, and changes nothing for anyone, that's what I'd call losing in life. My definition isn't about validation from others it's about whether your life produces any meaningful result or legacy

I agree with you, but over the years I dropped out due to various reasons. I hate to admit it, but one of the reasons I dropped out is because I wanted to be a NEET again. I achieved that but ultimately I achieved nothing. Now I have no job, no money, a ton of debt, no girlfriend, no wife, not a single date. Absolutely nothing. I am the biggest loser on the planet. Don't get me wrong though, I don't feel bad but I recognize that I am beyond screwed.

No, education isn't free here. You just pay a lot less compared to other countries. Only in Scandinavia is education free, and you get money on top of this from what I heard. College costs €2.5k per year, so you are spending €10k on an entire major. However, that is just for native people. International students have to pay almost €10k per year, and so they have to spend almost €40k for an entire major. Which is four years. Only rich international students can study here, or those who manage to get a sponsorship. Everything is becoming more and more difficult for both native non-whites and complete foreigners.
