Realistically, self-driving vehicles are still a long way away for a multitude of reasons... the most obvious being the technology is extremely flawed. I've seen videos of these cars blatantly running red lights, no doubt they will hit more pedestrians. This technology is ultimately going to be heavily reliant on 5G, but 5G is also extremely flawed and a long way off from reality as well, the wave lengths of 5G are too short necessitating towers every 1000 feet and the waves don't pass through obstructions well, like buildings. Plus, the benefit of 5G with self-driving vehicles would be the ability for them to communicate with other vehicles on the road, but we have not even come close to getting vehicles to that point. Realistically, we are 1-2 decades away from this being a technological possibility. There is no good reason self-driving cars should be permitted on the roads right now, they should be illegal, they are still far too dangerous
