Rome was made before GoT, they (HBO) canceled the rest of the 3(?) seasons and started making GoT.
Budget problems etc.
But Rome was 10 times better than GoT. It's a sad moment of our history that they only gave us 2 seasons of the best Tv show for men.
Game of Thrones was good, but bromance was on another level with Pullo and Vorenus. And the rest of the actors of Rome were all top class. Story of Rome and ancient Egypt was much better than fantasy GoT with their stupid dragon crap.
HBO asked some of the Rome actors to join, but only 2 or 3 joined. The rest declined because it was a shame move, that they ended the series so soon.

Edit: R.I.P. Ray Stevenson (Titus Pullo), died with only 58 years old.
