Add on top of that cultural hindrances (black people calling well-behaving, highly intelligent articulate blacks "Uncle Toms", latinos who glorify gang culture and drug dealing instead of research) and you have your answer.
(For context - only 7% of Americans are of Asian descent, whereas 20% are Hispanic)
Asian American culture also generally shuns gangster/rap/prison culture and heavily favors academic achievement.
It's socially difficult (but admirable) to be a high achieving latino or black in the US who is successful in fields other than sports, music or crime because other people of your race try to keep high achievers down through name calling.
