I’ve watched it’s blue eyes were found to be more striking it literally does not serve a functional purpose
It’s the same thing in peacocks coloured feathers it used to be thought the males coloured feathers indicated health the brighter they were but there hasn’t been any strong correlation
They literally just like it because it looks better
