Why are old people so easy to scam?

I have seen it in my own life, even as a kid I saw how my parents had no idea that people on the internet ... lie. But you can also see it in the news how they get scammed out of all their money, and Ukrainians even convinced old Russians to throw bombs on military buildings lol (seriously).

What I find weird is that these old people don't seem to be completely gone, their brains work well in other regards, but then ... they get scammed so easily. What's the explanation?

Because they didn't grow up with technology and it's easier to become familiar with stuff like that if you experience it from a young age

Maybe in some cases, but I know my father could handle the internet well when I was a kid, yet he fell easily for scams.

Depends who and where and how. I have realized that in the west old people almost worship TV because "it's too formal and elaborated, they wouldn't put that much effort into lying".

In the arab world even the strayed dog of the corner knows he shouldn't believe anything they say to him on TV except for Al Jazeera, which is one of the reasons why it got so popular to begin with.

When it comes to real life scams old people don't fall as easily as younger ones.

I remember a dude pretending to be me called my grandma and said that I drove to Utah with some friends to go to a funeral and that we ended up getting drunk, pulled over for DUIs, and in need of money for a bond.

She thought it was real jfl. But my paternal grandma lives in a totally different state so that's part of the reason she fell for it.

Old people have more money so they are targeted more for financial scams.

Young people are targeted with political ideology to go to prison for some cause.

Al Jazeera is goat media among Arabs?

In arabic, yeah, it's just on another level and quite frankly the best TV channel right now in the world, whether it's news or AJABreaking or documentaries or resources on the ground, all top notch level. Its totally different from the one in English.

It was for months the most streamed channel on YouTube after October last year, i remember the first day of the events of October it reached almost 1 million people live simultaneously (Again, the arabic channel which is completely different than the english one), and for months it didnt descend from 200.000. Channels like Al Arabiya barely reached 10.000.

Apart from the quality Al Jazeera has a clear islamic agenda which is in line with the average population's political beliefs (Contrary to lots of the rest of the arab media which is foreign or secular dominated), that's another reason why it's so popular.
