lets take for example the battlefield series:
remember battlefield 1942 or battlefield vietnam? no shitty 3rd party software needed like steam, origin, uplay. You were not forced to be connected with internet. You has bots/AI, Coop & Singleplayer. No shitty rank/level/unlock system. Every player was able to play with anything from the start. You has good mods & custom maps support.
Now today battlefield: no mods, no custom maps. Shitty rank/level/unlock system (so if you buy the game later and you join the party, everyone is maxed level with best weapons unlocked and you have no chance). forced internet connection. shitty 3rd party software is needed. No SP No Coop No AI.
and thats just an example, same applies with call of duty or GTA or almost any game now. In GTA 5, online players get all the DLC stuff (overpriced ofcourse) while in SP, you cant even use the new weapons and cars in native ways. If you try to spawn the new vehicles, they despawn 2 seconds later. Its some sort of protection by rockstar.
Aaaaand, most games nowadays are pretty much short in content, they get cut and released half-assed, so developers can release the other part of content as DLC/Addon which mostly costs double as the game itself. Battlefield 1 for example, they took out some factions and released them later as DLC.
Call of duty you have to buy shitty mappacks.
most games nowadays are filled with ugly weapons skins, like CS:GO, and those fortnite and CS:GO kids are fucking wasting their money just to make their weapons looks like some anime toys
if my kids would waste their money i gave to them for worthless skins, i would put them into torture jail and resign as father
