It's more about efficiency and high level energy expenditure .like the whole caveman fire theory


If anything its large and forward well positioned bones.

Aid in more muscle attachments and the increased bite force,

To greater chew and break down food.

Leading to more nutrients and calories for body and brain development

Sexual selection. Strong chin is a more progressive feature, receding is a more archaic feature.

Also possible it protects teh teeth more.
