Why go to an event and pretend we are are close as family and eat expensive food.

Its a dillusion and manipulative behaviour.

If anything there should be no christmas party to unveil the true face of it all.

My company does this too, and I don't bother going to them for this very reason. Its done to keep those people doing well at the company happy and its supposed to bring people together.
