Why do east asians think theyre white?

Are Asian Americans people of color or the next in line to become white?

Ensuring that the experiences, attitudes, and perceptions of Asian Americans are included in national data collection efforts will enable us to disrupt the narrative that Asians are becoming white, are honorary whites, or white adjacent.

I know theyre intending this to be some woke theory about how east asians have too much privilege but knowing them they probably do it to feel whiter
