Every day in homeroom and my classes, I notice how the girls only sit with the good looking guys. It’s like they don’t even notice the rest of us. The guys with the nice hair, clear skin, and confidence always have people around them, laughing and talking, while the rest of us are just left out. I try to be friendly and make an effort to fit in, but it feels like it doesn’t matter because I don't meet their standards and I don’t look a certain way. What really gets to me is how the girls seem so much more comfortable around the good looking ones, like they trust them more or automatically assume they’re better people. Meanwhile, anyone who doesn’t fit their standards is ignored or treated like they don’t belong. It’s hard watching this happen every day, knowing that people judge so much based on appearances. Sometimes I wonder if they even realize how it feels to be excluded like that.
