Earlier trance was definitely melancholic. It came out of the EBM/Darkwave scene at first. It wasn’t until the Dutch uplifting scene came out that it became more Euphoric and Uplifting. Can’t wait till it goes mainstream again, cause tech house and techno are too bland and dark.
