Lens distortion, camera quality, lighting and possibly the image is being inverted.

What the fuck does lens distortion even mean, I feel like it’s cope
Lens distortion is an optical imperfection that causes straight lines in a scene to appear curved or bent in an image. It arises from the way light bends as it passes through a lens, and it's more pronounced in some lenses than others, particularly wide-angle and telephoto lenses.

Lens distortion in phone cameras, particularly with wide-angle lenses, can cause straight lines to appear curved (barrel distortion) or objects near the edges to appear stretched or compressed. This is a common phenomenon due to the lens design and the wide field of view needed for capturing landscapes and group shots.

This guy says it’s because you think u look better Infront of the mirror while

that guy says it’s cuz of lens distortion… what’s the absolute truth???
Probably both tbh

No it's definitely not cope. Go to your camera app and hold it directly to your face. You will look deformed. Hold it at arms length and it's only mildly distorted.

I look chopped as hell when people take pics of me, literally ruins my day to look at pics taken by me whereas when I look at myself in the mirror I feel like a god

Mirror vs Camera: Which One Is More Accurate? - Clipping Path ...In most cases, home mirrors offer a more accurate representation of your appearance than smartphone cameras, especially selfie cameras. Mirrors provide a reversed, 3D view, which our brains are accustomed to, while cameras, particularly selfie cameras, can distort the image due to factors like lens compression, focal length, and lighting.
