The worst thing an ortho could do is pulling molars of a young child and close the gap with elastics.

If you you have only a small overbite there won’t be large movement from elastics.

It’s when an overbite is already moderate to severe where there is a problem. If you have a 3mm overbite it really isn’t a big deal.
