Why do landwhales take rejection so personally?

2 landwhale rosties at the office in their 40s or 50s. One is the Mexican Giant (5'6" and around 400 lbs) while the other is a fat dwarf (around 4'10" and 200 lbs)

I've rejected both of them at work and they seem bitter. The Giant one is esp bitter. One time we were in a meeting and she sarcastically said "John just loves to talk, ask him a question." Another time, I heard her say "John isn't friendly, he does not like to talk" to another woman. The other woman (also a landwhale) just ignored her.

The fat dwarf also gets quite angry/passive aggressive around me.


Why do landwhales take rejection so personally? Do they expect me to like their fat, old asses?
